DENVER, CO – January 8, 2010: The Cherry Creek Arts Festival (CCAF) officially announced the confirmed slate of ¬¬¬230 juried artists and 8 “Emerging Artists” for its 20th anniversary show. The artists were chosen in a blind-jury process from 2,250 artist applications, making the CCAF one of, if not the most, competitive art shows in the nation. 27 artists are from the state of Colorado. The CCAF takes place Saturday, Sunday and Monday, July 3, 4, and 5, 2010 and is located in Denver’s Cherry Creek North District. Complete information is available at http://www.CherryArts.org.

The exhibiting visual artists are what’s new this year: 103 of the 230 artists are first-time-ever CCAF exhibitors, with 72 artists returning from last year. The remaining artists have exhibited 2008 and prior or were invited. The only artists exempt from the jury are the 12 award-winning artists from the previous year, as well as the annual commemorative poster artist.

Contributing to the competitive nature and high levels of art excellence are actual artist sales (in excess of $2.3 million for 2009) and consistently high national festival rankings. High sales are attributed to the event's setting in the heart of Denver's unique, beautiful and affluent district of Cherry Creek North, an educated art-buying audience of 350,000 annually, and a $900,000+ multi-media marketing campaign. The visual artists' success and quality are core values and measurements of accomplishment for the Cherry Creek Arts Festival.

Artistic excellence of original, handcrafted work is the sole criteria for selection of exhibitors. The Arts Festival features artists in 13 different media categories including: ceramics, digital art, drawing, fiber, glass, graphics and printmaking, jewelry, metalworks, mixed media, painting, photography, sculpture and wood.

The names, mediums and images of all 2010 exhibiting artists are available at:

The panel of jurors was comprised of:  Douglas Brugger, Show of Hands Gallery Co-owner of Denver; Jerry Gilmore, Independent Curator and Visual Artist of Denver; Jack McLean, CCAF award winning sculpture artist of Johnsburg, IL; Phyllis Reid Stapler, CCAF award winning painter artist of Durango; and Ivar Zeile, owner and director of Plus Gallery of Denver. As part of the 20th Anniversary Celebration, the 2010 jury panel is the first-ever with repeat jurors. Four were selected based on past jury excellence, and the fifth juror, Jack McLean, was selected because he has the sole visual artist honor of being juried into nineteen of the past twenty Cherry Creek Arts Festivals.
