DENVER STUDENTS CREATE ECO-FRIENDLY ART
Cherry Creek Arts Festival Announces New Art of Community Project
DENVER, CO, June 2008 – This year's Cherry Creek Arts Festival (CCAF),
July 4-6, welcomes non-profit organization, Larimer Arts Association
and Project LEAD to the Art of Community area of the 18th annual event.
Project LEAD will provide an eco-friendly interactive art experience
that Festival attendees can join in to create.
Due to the new Green Print initiative announced by Denver Mayor John
Hickenlooper, Project LEAD wanted this year's program to be to create
art from what recycled materials that students from eight participating
Denver Public School (DPS) classrooms could find.
According to DPS, many middle and high schools' art programs and
materials have been cut back on in order to address budget shortfalls.
Project LEAD and Larimer Arts Association offer their art options to
those schools that lack such resources. Project LEAD is applied in
schools which offer art classes and across all areas of DPS, allowing
it to reach students of all socio-economic backgrounds.
The goal of CCAF's Art of Community is to attract community-based,
art-focused organizations that enhance the CCAF mission and create
value to the audience by providing interactive, visually stimulating,
quality exhibits. Also included in this year's Art of the Community
will be presentations by
ArtReach, the Colorado Ballet, and the Colorado Symphony Orchestra.
