What Makes A Cherry Green?

Denver, CO, June 2008 – The 18th annual Cherry Creek Arts Festival (CCAF) will be a little different this year due to new efforts of going green. While attendees experience all the amenities of the festival, they will also enjoy knowing that their participation is complemented by newly enhanced and collaborative environmental efforts. This year, CCAF is working with the City of Denver, our vendors and other local festivals to help reduce the environmental impact of our public celebrations.

With plans on making The Cherry Creek Arts Festival GREEN in 2008, CCAF is placing two (2) recycle bins with signage at every intersection of the festival site. Other efforts include a total of twelve (12) recycle bins with signage on Culinary Row (St. Paul, between 2nd & 3rd Ave.) as well as a total of eight (8) recycle bins with signage on Fillmore Plaza. A Green Recycling tent with more information about recycling will be on-site at the Festival on 2nd Avenue and Milwaukee.

"We are thrilled to work with the Green Print Denver and our many partners in making the Cherry Creek Arts Festival an environmentally friendly event. The collaborative efforts of the special event industry in Denver has been a rewarding experience for us and showcases the true meaning of how much of an impact we can make by working together," stated Terry Adams, Executive Director of CCAF, "We encourage our guests to support the recycling efforts at this year's event.  We are making a difference, one person at a time."

Janus, title sponsor of CCAF, will also be going green at this year's Festival. The Janus Water Station has become a staple at the annual Cherry Creek Arts Festival. During what is traditionally one of the hottest weekends of the year in Denver, their friendly staff will serve you up a complimentary glass of ice water, complete with a cherry on top!

To help make sure the program is friendly to the environment as well as to festival goers, Janus is pleased to announce that this year the company is using Greenware cups which resemble clear plastic, but are made from a resin derived from corn resin. The cups are 100% environmentally sustainable as the resin is naturally recyclable into the earth.

Each year Janus serves nearly 30,000 cups of water throughout the weekend. They will be serving from 10am – 4pm daily on Fillmore Plaza.
