Australia’s Sway Pole comes to Denver as the 2007 Festival Feature
DENVER, CO, June 2007 – The Cherry Creek Arts Festival announces its 2007 Festival Feature: Australia’s Sway Pole presented by Stapleton. The 17th annual, three-day festival takes place on July 6, 7 and 8 with 350,000 attendees anticipated. With three daily Sway Pole performances throughout the weekend, everyone will have the opportunity to experience the unique performing arts troupe.
Coming all the way from Melbourne, Australia, Australia’s Sway Pole performs a unique style of work that fuses theater, dance and circus while perched atop 15-foot, flexible poles. Based on the image of a field of wheat swaying in the breeze, the poles’ strength and flexibility allow the performers to bow to extreme angles. As the troupe bends and sways through the air, the audience will be engaged in absolute fascination.
The Festival Feature will take place on Fillmore Plaza across from the Janus Main Stage. Festival attendees will be able to get up close and personal with the performers as they present their 30-minute expression of artistic movement.
Other new Arts Festival features include a spectacular fireworks display presented by Macy’s in honor of Independence Day and a podcasting program - a new and interactive stage for experiencing the Festival. Visitors will be able to simulcast the fireworks extravaganza directly to their iPod, making the experience more accessible. Visit http://podcast.cherryarts.org for more information about the podcasting program.
