The Arts Festival’s Artivity Avenue Provides Fun for the Whole Family
DENVER, CO, June 2007 – This year’s Cherry Creek Arts Festival (July 6-8) announces a new family-friendly activity that promotes creative expression in its simplest form – a mosaic mural. The My Art Creates Mosaic is a new project that will take place on the Arts Festival’s Artivity Avenue presented by Frontier Airlines – a full street of hands-on activities for children and families all promoting artistic expression and creativity. This year, Artivity Avenue will take place on Milwaukee Avenue between Second and Third Avenues in Cherry Creek North.
The My Art Creates Mosaic will begin as a blank slate on the morning of July 6th. All throughout the three-day event, Festival attendees, young and old alike, will be given the opportunity to add their own artistic expression to the 20-by-6 foot white banner. Each participant will be provided with a five-by-five inch blank piece of paper on which they will be able to express what art is to them. Each personalized square will then be applied to the banner, creating an original mosaic design. By the end of the Arts Festival, the blank banner will evolve into a mosaic mural symbolizing artistic expression and community involvement.
'Artivity Avenue offers a hands-on celebration of the arts that features activities for families to engage in,” said Tara Brickell, Visual Arts and Education Director for the Cherry Creek Arts Festival. “The 'My Art Creates' theme really inspired the creation of the Mosaic Mural Project. We really want our guests to get involved and feel the sense of community collaboration while expressing what art means to them."
Other fun and exciting Artivity Avenue activities offered by the Arts Festival’s non-profit partners include: Frog Origami with the Denver Zoo, Leaf Creatures with the Denver Botanic Gardens, Masks with the Children’s Museum and Paper Vests and Jewelry with the Pathways Therapy Center. The Cherry Creek Arts Festival also sponsors other creative and family-friendly activities along Artivity Avenue.
This year’s Festival is proud to have six non-profit partners sponsoring activities on Artivity Avenue. For more information on the Arts Festival’s non-profit partner program, visit here.
Also included in the fun of Artivity Avenue, is the Cherry Creek Shopping Center Family Stage.
