CHERRY CREEK ARTS FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES JURIED VISUAL ARTISTS AND 2008 DATES

DENVER, CO – On February 2, 2008, the Cherry Creek Arts Festival (CCAF) officially announced the confirmed slate of 231 juried artists and 8 “Emerging Artists” for its 18th Annual show, which were chosen in a blind-jury process from 2,231 artist applications. 13 artists are from the state of Colorado. The CCAF takes place July 4, 5, 6, 2008 and is located in Denver’s Cherry Creek North Business District, from 2nd to 3rd, on the six streets starting on Clayton through Steele.ÜComplete information available at http://www.cherryarts.org/.

The exhibiting visual artists are what’s new for 2008: 89 are first-time-ever CCAF exhibitors, and 67 artists exhibited in 2006 or prior; this means nearly 70% (156 artists) artists are new for 2008.

The names, mediums and images of all 2008 Exhibiting Artists are available here.

A downloadable MS Excel Exhibiting Artist list is available here.

Artistic excellence of original, handcrafted work is the sole criteria for selection of exhibitors. The only artists exempt from the jury each year are the 12 award-winning artists from the previous year, as well as the annual commemorative poster artist. The Arts Festival features artists in 13 different media categories including: ceramics, digital art, drawing, fiber, glass, graphics and printmaking, jewelry, metalworks, mixed media, painting, photography, sculpture and wood.

The panel of jurors was comprised of: Jennifer Garner, Director/Curator/Assistant Professor for the Center for Visual Art Metropolitan State College of Denver; Vallorie Henderson, Special Projects Coordinator for the Kentucky Craft Marketing Program; Collin Parson, Museum/Galleries Exhibition Designer at the Arvada Center for Arts and Humanities. The jury panel also included two invited artists from last year’s show: mixed media artist Gregg Graff of Sequim, Washington and jeweler Trish Stevenson of Black Earth, Wisconsin.
